Chocolate stain removal

Chocolate stain removalSome of us love eating delicious chocolate, but what if we drop some of it on our favourite clothes or carpets? Solutions? Many! Below we present a few tricks to clean chocolate stains.

First, use a non-sharp knife to scrape off as much of the substance as you can. The longer you leave it, the tougher it will be to remove. Avoid rubbing chocolate stains as this will embed the chocolate into the fibers and will make cleaning harder.

A foolproof system to clean chocolate stains on your clothes is to apply a stain remover onto the garment and put it in the washing machine. Furthermore, if you use some salts with active oxygen it will be spotless without the need of rubbing. However, there are other homemade tricks.

For example, you can sprinkle the chocolate stain with a little lemon juice before putting it into the washing machine. Another option is to apply ammonia and alcohol evenly on the chocolate stain.

If the stain is on your carpet or rug that obviously you cannot put in the washing machine, try using a mix of lukewarm water and dish-washing soap, whisk into lather, and carefully blot the stain with a clean sponge. You can also use a mixture of ammonia and water, or white vinegar solution. Repeat blotting until the stain is gone, rinse with plain water, and blot the area dry with a kitchen towel.

Before applying any cleaning solution, be sure to test it in an inconspicuous area first. This will ensure you won’t damage the fabrics.
