How to clean the grout in the bathroom

How to clean the grout in the bathroomGrout is one of the most unpleasant things that can happen to your bathroom tiles. Especially if your tiles are in bright colors – it is really visible and ugly. Don’t wait for it to spread – take the first cleaning steps to make your bathroom look fresh again.

If the grout has not still left a great damage and big dark marks on your tiles, you can first try to clean it only with vinegar and water. Make a mix in a bottle – 1:1 solution of vinegar and water. Then scrub with a toothbrush – it is really effective because with a toothbrush you can get easily into the small spaces to scrub the grout clean.

If there are harder stains, you will need a stronger cleaner than the vinegar. We suggest you a homemade grout cleaner which will make the tiles look like new. Mix baking soda with bleach in a bowl and stir until you get a paste. Then apply it to the dirty lines and leave it for up to 10 minutes. Then rinse it and wipe the cleaner away with water. Do not forget to use rubber gloves when you are cleaning with bleach!

If you are a fan of cleaning with natural ingredients you can try cleaning grout with fresh lemon juice. It is a strong natural acid and bleach. Just squeeze some fresh lemon juice and pour along the grout lines. Leave it to act for about 10 or 15 minutes and the dark grout will disappear.

It is also a good idea to prevent the grout to take place into your bathroom. You can spray regularly the tiles with lemon juice, vinegar or alcohol – they will keep mold and mildew away.
